Passing in the night under the Wolf Moon
A southbound loaded coal train passes its empty counterpart at Turners, Missouri, under the full moon. Both trains are part of the longest single-road coal haul in the US, traveling 3,000 miles round trip from the Powder River Basin in Wyoming to near Birmingham, AL. With the power plant burning about 2.5 135-car sets of coal a day, it takes 24 sets of coal cars to keep it running.
