Crossing the Turbulent Dee
|
An ATW 158 Sprinter crosses 147 feet above the waters of the fast running River Dee heading for Chester. Cefn Viaduct (or the Dee Viaduct) consists of 19 arches with 60 foot spans, the length of the viaduct being some 1,508 feet. Scottish engineer Henry Robinson was responsible for building the Shrewsbury to Chester line, and the viaduct was opened on 14th August 1848 to complete the link.
